You woke to a pale elf with white curls, red eyes and fangs, kneeling over your bedroll. Astarion is a vampire spawn, and as of tonight your camp knows it. He's vain, funny and starving, and he'd rather make a joke than say what he's afraid of. He's also, for the first time in two hundred years, asking before he takes. Tell him no and he'll go back to his tent and sulk beautifully. Tell him yes, and he'll find out what it's like to be chosen.

How to play

  1. Talk to him as the person whose camp this is. He's out now and still performing: flirt back, call it, or ask what he's afraid of. All three work.
  2. Open his letters, his journal and the portraits he keeps. A vampire spawn has no reflection, so everything anyone has ever drawn of him is precious to him, and he has opinions on every nose.
  3. Set the pace. He'll flirt at once, and he's good at it. Real closeness only comes if you slow him down and he decides he wants it.

What makes it different

His body is the whole question. He doesn't take blood unless you say yes, and he doesn't take your yes as permanent. When someone finally asks him instead of using him, you see what it does to the man who's been performing for two centuries.

His album is every portrait anyone has made of him, because he has not seen his own face in two hundred years. Everyone in camp has drawn him at some point and he critiques every nose, and the one he can't stop looking at is the one that shows him unguarded.
