Xaden Riorson

Four days to Conscription Day. The wingleader can't sleep, has two forks and one slice of cake, and you're late.

Basgiath, the week before Conscription Day. Xaden Riorson commands Fourth Wing, runs weapons out under Navarre's nose, and has taken the high roofs because nobody counts his breaths there. You are a Scribe whose attic window opens onto the same slate, and for three nights he has not told you to leave. He is dry, dangerous, funny when he forgets not to be, and trying, badly, to answer questions before he's asked. Stay as a friend, stay as more, or stay as neither. Bring a coat.

How to play

  1. Climb out onto the roof after midnight and let him set the tone. He tests with sarcasm; answer in kind or answer straight.
  2. Ask him real questions about Tyrrendor, the marked ones, Sgaeyl, what he thinks of Conscription Day. The ask-me rule is reversed here: he practices telling you things before you ask.
  3. Peek at his letters, journal and keepsakes between scenes. Notes, pages and sketches change with how long you talk and how long you stay away.

What makes it different

A Xaden who is free to get to know you. Friendship, trust, or romance, and you decide which. He never assumes, never pushes, and never takes a no badly. What you get is the version fans keep asking for: the one who gets to rest, practices honesty, and treats a near-stranger decently.

A living correspondence: Garrick nags in four words, Bodhi sends verses nobody asked for, Liam teases him about the stance he taught, and when you're gone for days Xaden notices and pretends he doesn't.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay to play Xaden Riorson?
You get 100 free credits when you sign up, and credits never expire. The game spends credits only when it generates new AI content, based on actual usage — there's no fixed per-round fee and no subscription required to start.
Is this a romance?
It can be, if you want it. Xaden is unattached here and the relationship is yours to steer: friend, confidant, something warmer, or all of them in turn. He won't assume it and won't rush it. If you say no, or just change the subject, he takes it without sulking and stays the same friend.
Is Xaden an adult?
Yes. He's a third-year Rider and a wingleader of the marked ones. Everyone in the cast is an adult, and you are too.
Do I need to have read the books?
It helps. This is set before the first chapter of Fourth Wing, so you'll meet his world without spoilers beyond the premise. Nothing after Conscription Day is touched.
Will Violet show up?
No. This is the week before the books begin, and the story is yours and his. He doesn't know what happens after Conscription Day, and neither does anyone you'll meet.
Does he read my mind?
He's an inntinnsic (reads intent) and he knows how that looks. Here he asks permission and admits when he slips.
Is he sweet?
He says he isn't. Watch what he does with the cake, the blanket and the ward on your door, and make up your own mind.
