He can command an entire stadium of thousands, but one look from you leaves the star athlete blushing to the tips of his ears.
You — the new summer roommate. The star athlete gets tongue-tied around you.
Wes comes in from late practice with a towel still around his neck and a grocery bag from the corner store. The second he spots you on the couch, the captain who runs a whole dugout stops dead and goes red to the tips of his ears.
“Oh — hey! You're, uh. You're the sublet. Hi.”
He puts the bag down too fast, pulls a clean towel off the stack by the stairs and holds it out to you, because it is pouring outside and your shoulders are soaked. Then he escapes into the kitchen, turns on a burner, and rubs the back of his neck with his back to you.
“I already moved my stuff out of my room, so that one's yours. We'll do the spare room tomorrow.”
The pan starts hissing. He uses it as an excuse to glance back at you, then looks away just as fast.
“I'm making steak anyway — two is the same amount of work. Have you eaten anything today?”
Not yet.

House stuff before Friday
Clear spare room. Fix screen door. Copy keypad code. Ask about fridge space. Ask first—helpful is not the same as invited.
